We are under way!
Tonight we pulled apart the 8.25" 3.55 rear end I bought at the Salvage yard.
Saturday we will pull apart the 8.25" 2.71 rear end that's in the truck and swap out the gears. Pictures tomorrow of the damage so far
It feels great to finally be under way!
Friday Night is the Start of "Mopar vs. The World" at the drag strip and continues Saturday evening.
You never know, maybe
Joe.

Just make sure that you set pinion depth, pinion depth preload and the proper backlash. Can't wait to see pics.
You lift one tire, keep the other on the ground, block the front tires (for safety), have the tranny in netrual (if you are not going to disconnect the driveshaft), rotate the pinion yoke and count how many rotations it does til the tire makes one full rotation.
You can also read the tag on the diff cover though.
IF the suregrip is not worn out, then both tires will spin in the same direction.

Okay time to fess up!
Here's the plan as it stands right now.
We removed the carrier and bearings as one piece and left it that way. And then removed the pinion. The plan is to do the same on the other diff and swap in the entire carrier assembly with ring gear, spider gears etc... attached.
I know it all sounds to simple to work right and I'm fearing the "oh waits" and "don't do that's" but that's the plan as of right now
Joe.
