HEMI???

My father recently passed and left me a 426 hemi out of a challenger. Im not sure what year. The block is original but I think I remember him saying it had aftermarket heads or heads of another hemi andd the crankshaft and camshaft have been replaced with some that are a bit more radical. I was wondering how much a motor like this is worth.

unfortunatly without knowing more information its kinda a craps shoot buying an engine like that and its therefore not going to be worth as much as if you knew all the info. I would guess a fair bit though. Nowhere in the multi thousands that some of the crate motor are going for, but I would think that 1-2k is probably where it would end up selling for on fleebay.

Any original HEMI parts are almost worth their weight in gold and are VERY sought after. I would say that you need to talk to someone that really knows their stuff and find out what is original and what is not. I know in my area complete HEMIs coming out of fields are going for around $2500...not running. Do your homework before you sell... it will be worth your time.

Talking 426 hemi

a few years back i was a bristol dragway and they had a swap meet and a complete motor that needed a rebuild was going for $10,000 but then again something is only worth what someone is willing to pay, ebay is the way to go to see what they are going for

I DONT KNOW WHAT UCFIEROCHARGER IS TALKING ABOUT 1-2K FOR????? APPARENTLY HE HASN'T LOOKED AT THE PRICES OF 426 HEMI'S SINCE THEY CAME OUT BACK IN 64 WHEN YOU COULD BUY ONE FOR ABOUT AS MUCH AS HE STATED. LOL DONT EVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU A 426 HEMI ISN'T WORTH MUCH. LOOK AT THEM ON EBAYMOTORS.COM VERY UNLIKELY TO FIND ONE NOW A DAYS UNDER 10K! MUCH LESS FIND AN ORIGINAL ONE. I READ ON A SITE A FEW DAYS AGO THAT ONLY 11,000 426 HEMI'S WERE PRODUCED BETWEEN 1964 WHEN THEY WERE INTRODUCED AND 1971 WHEN THEY GAVE UP TRYING TO SELL THEM. IF YOU THINK OF IT, THOSE WERE EASILY ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL MOTORS IN IT'S DAY, AND THE MAJORITY OF THEM WERE PROBABLY SENT TO THE SCRAP YARD WITH THE CAR SOME KID WRAPPED AROUND A TREE, AND A WHOLE LOT OF THEM WERE DESTROYED BY GUYS FILLING THEM WITH CEMENT FOR DRAG RACING. I'M GUESSING THEIR ARENT A WHOLE HECK OF ALOT OF ORIGINAL ONES LEFT. ANY HOW I HAVE A VERY NICE 1974 CAMARO I WOULD LIKE TO TRADE FOR A 426 HEMI. I WILL TRADE THE CAR STRAIGHT ACROSS, IT HAS BEEN RESTORED GROUND UP, AND IS BEAUTIFUL! HAS ORIGINAL 350, BUT DIFFERENT HEADS THEY ARE THE DOUBLE HUMP 2.02 HEADS. SO A LITTLE MORE POWERFUL THAN IT WAS ORIGINALLY. THE CAR IS EASILY ONE OF THE NICEST I HAVE EVER SEEN. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE EMAIL ME AT rcknrolfender79@yahoo.com OR MESSAGE ME.

P.S. IF THAT IS A RUNNING MOTOR DONT LET ANYONE RIP YOU OFF FOR ANYTHING LESS THAN 10 GRAND. LIKE SOMEONE STATED EARLIER THEY ARE WORTH A FORTUNE ALMOST WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD! ANYWAYS GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A GOOD ONE!

ALSO: UCFIEROCHARGER IF YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A 426 HEMI FOR 1-2K PLEASE LET ME IN ON WHERE THE HECK YOUR LOOKIN AT! LOL JK
