1974 Dart swinger a/c delete
I have a 74 swinger, 318ci, I am going to remove the a/c system in this car, it does not work and for what I will be using the car for I would rather ditch this 100lbs of dead weight. Question #1, now that the a/c motor will no longer be there what do I do about the alternator belts? Just run a smaller belt or do I need to get a tensioner? Question #2, what do I do about the lines that are coming from the radiator? Cap them off or is there a bypass that needs to be run? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Going to start the dismantle in 5,4,3,2...

Easy way would be to remove the compressor and leave the bracket. Install an Idler on the bracket. Air cond evap mounted in front of the radiator can be removed. IT does not connect to the radiator.
Other wise you need NON air cond pulleys Or Myguiver the belt alignment and belt size |
There are different accessory brackets for non A/C motor, try to find them and do it right. Nothing worse than tossing a belt @ 3000RPM

#1 - it looked wrong! #2 - it was a lot of work to make it look that way! #3 - it would throw belts :-( I finally found the correct brackets and pulleys and it was right. |
Thats what I figured, i have been looking for the non a/c brackets and pulleys, is there anything else I am going to need to remove?
