413 max wedge question...

I got a spare block thrown in with a deal on a Cuda drag car that I purchased, the guy said it was 413 with a 426 wedge crank. I took it home and put it in the corner of the shop, and forgot about it. This weekend I started tracking the numbers on the block and looking for some info. The numbers are 1852029-2 with a AAQA 3R. From what I find they say this is a Max wedge block. It has the valve reliefs too. Does anyone know about these motors and what they are worth? Is it worth a decent build?

Thanks, JM

Engine Identification

Hi, I know this post is a few months old, but wondering if you have done anything with the motor. The casting number you listed is, in fact, for a 1962 413 max wedge motor. However, the V41 on the pad raises a question because the "V" code is for a 1964 production year motor. Based on the pad info, you have a 1964 413 motor built on March 20, 1964... which doesn't make a lot of sense considering the casting is for a 62.

There should be a casting date stamped just below the casting number. This might help clear up the confusing dates. Ma Mopar did some strange things back in the day, so it would not be unheard of to find a 62 casting that sat for 2 years before it was built. A gentleman named Greg Lane is considered an expert on Max Wedge cars/engines and you might run it by him. His email address is "hemidude64@aol.com".

Whatever you find out, I would be interested in talking with you regarding possible purchase if you still have it.

My book shows the casting number to be 62-63 413 casting. The V41 shows it was assembled in 1964. Most likely came from a full sized 1964 Chrysler.
