aftermarket heads / or nitrous

i have a stock headed 383 in my vf ute it makes 261rwhp . it has a 3000 stall 727 box , 3.50 diff , 1st time out ran 14.1 & 97 miles per hour . the dizzy needs re curving . ( was sluggish into 3rd gear & hardly revving over the line , i might shift a bit earlier also ) the car weighs 1560 kgs with driver . i can get easily enough edelbrock , 440 stealth , Indy ez heads . money is a factor, i have Holley street dominator manifold 750 Holley dp , 1 7/8 headers & 2 1/2 exhaust . i will be changing my pistons & rods too forgies & h beams. a new cam also .
q am i better off using nitrous to make power when i need it & save on fuel . or do i spend the money and have power all the time as well as extra fuel all the time ?

Nitrous will get you what you want ....without all that work AND all that extra fuel.

BTW ..what is the cost of fuel ...down-under ?

yeah not the fuel mate

mo fans or owners have to buy all our parts over there ( USA ) . what you buy your parts for double it that's what we pay for it . chev or ford fans can go to any auto parts store & buy what ever they want . there are never ads in our magazines for Chrysler parts. if i want anything for my ride i have to find it on the web pay for it wait still waiting then after heaps waiting finaliy get it and pay almost double . it takes so long . since the end of last year i have never seen so much big block mopar parts but if our $ drops off again i am afraid it will back to the bad old days again got go see ya

how much does that car weigh? something tells me that you have enough power for 12's, you just need some suspension work and some traction. what's you 60' times now?

i am new to the mopar world, but in the mustang world there are guys that are deep into the 12's with 250rwhp. you're story should be no different.

anywho, i always vote for nitrous.

personally, i woudlnt go nitrous. you really gotta build for that if you want it to last. its kinda (to me) cheating right? i mean... it just doesnt seem as fun to me to have a car that is fast ONLY on the bottle. i like the power under my foot anytime. i think theres more respect out there for a car that does 11/12's on pump gas with no adders.

hello all

i just got a set of Indy ez heads 2 days ago i am looking at using 1.6 ratio rockers & solid cam to achieve as close to . 600th lift as i can but trying to keep the duration down to a minimum so i can still use my 3000 stall and have a broad power curve . that's the plan anyway

Hey d k ..... good luck with that combo. I think you might need a little more converter to launch a car like yours with a 3k converter and a 3.5 gear.

sorry

i also got a shortened 8 3/4 diff with new Yukon ring & pinion gear 3.9 :1 i am saving for a Detroit locker at the moment . the guy i got the ring gear off also has a power lok center but he wants $700 au for it landed over here . i would rather spend a bit more & not worry about the center again . i also got green bearings and install kit & big drums brakes . that owes me $1500 au so far .

yeah mate

it's also a new Yukon power lok center . i thought power loks were a Dana item which were better & than a sure grip . ( don't hold me to that though , that's just what i was told ) well saterday week were all going to the drags for some grudge racing . i'll be up against a ford xr8 ute , 2 x vt ss Holden commadoor sedans (they are gm ls1 v8's & one of em has 415 rwhp ) 3 x Subaru wrx one runs 35 lb boost & 2 x bikes so it should all be fun well i have to go cya's .

i raced one of the Holden's today .

i raced one of the Chev ls1 powered commodore's today . it was dynoed last Friday at 291 rwhp . i got him off the line but was sideways all over the place in front of him . we had a second go but same result so we'll have to settle this at the track . i then seen some suzuki / Honda turbo guy's with all there hoods up , pulled up next to em & done some donut's figure 8's & whips & left em in my smoke . so i am off to get some new tyres tomorrow hahahaha . the ol val is going much better after the re curved dizzy & msd 6al .
