battery or alenator problem...
hey everyone my 1969 plymouth furry III with a 383 big block in it has a problem with its battery altenator or voltage regulator im not sure wich. the guy i baught the car off of has a bypass cable from the altenator to the battery. and the altenator really doesnt charge the battery so when i need to start up the car i have to jump it. when i jump it, it starts up perfect. any suggestions on how to fix this problem. ideal thing would to be for it to work like its suppost to without any bypass cables. or do i have another problem? thanks

well first off i would start by doing it right and putting all wires back to where they belong
check or replace the starter relay switch and try it , also check your neutral safety swith to see if its working properly your termanal that says batt on alternator does go to your battery and the fld next to it goes to your ballast and opposite side fld goes to voltage regulator and so forth but you might want to pick up a good manual to see all the wireing let us no how it comes out |

Alternator
Do you have a DC volt meter? With it running, how much voltage do you have at the alt. Should be 13.5 to 14 volt output.
Do you have a wiring diagram? You can find one in the link. http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=24 |

Dont get too excited. Once it runs, it will be something else causing trouble!
