Crank dampner install question...

So, who here has installed a crank dampner by "pulling" it on with the stock 3/4" bolt and who has "pushed" it on using a grade 8 threaded rod, nut and bushing? I prefer to drive it on with a nut as opposed to pulling it on with a bolt and possibly f'n the threads up...

My concern is how far to drive the sucker on...I cannot be sure using my method....

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Erik

ive always used the bolt to put it on that way it can only go on as far as the end of the crank.. just flush it up to the crank. put the damper on the crank tap it in a bit with a block of wood and hammer. then tread the bolt in and tighten down till it pushes it flush

Thanks guys...i pressed it on with a nut, bushing, and a greade 8 threaded rod...worked fine. I pressed it on until it fit flush with the oil slinger and face of the crank snout. Torqued the crank bolt to 135 ft lbs and called it a day- seems fine.
