Engine misfire when cold

Hi,

i was wondering what could be the reason, as my '76 Dodge Coronet doesn't run well with cold engine. When i press gas, engine allmost chokes, and if i press more gas it really dies.

So, where to start fixing this problem, and what to investigate and replace.

As i say engine is cold, at least now as the weather is 0-10 degrees(30-50 F) outside.

Pull some spark plugs and see what they look like. Also it sounds like your carb mey need to be cleaned and adjusted.

is the choke working properly?

what engine? center port in intake and heads plugged?

360 v8, choke is automatic but yeah, it seems to work ok as the engine doesn't die on idle even as cold. It's only when i start to drive and give gas it misfires.
With very gentle gas i can drive it but otherwise need to wait until engine worms up.

I'll have to check those sparks and then go to carb.

I'm sorry but my english is not so good with car vocabulary to understand the part "center port in intake and heads plugged" correctly, as i'm not native english speaker.

its part of the egr valve. chances are its pluged, in order to clean it you have to pull the manifold (the only way i know how) and you will see carbon build up in the port of the intake manifold and head. between the 2 sets of runners, but i never had a miss becouse of it.
