holley carb boiling gas?

Dear people,
This may be longwinded, its been awhile since I was on here. Ok when im running my 72psat hard in town in first and second, the car will start stalling in first when I come to a stop. So when I parked it today after a hard run I pulled the breather cuz I just had the carb rebuilt to check on it. Gas was spitting and hissing out of where the carb sits on the intake. Vapor or steam was coming out of the top of the carb. Thing would neither start or idle. I could only start the car with the gas pedal on the floor to clear the thing. Now I used to have an alum spacer but my mechanic took it out saying I don't need it. Running a crate 360 with 600 holley 4 barrel I am thinking about getting a holley 570 street avenger with a phelonic shield. What is going on here? Is this Holley boiling my gas, someone told me once upon a time they did that. Are my fixes on the right track. Thanks all, Huge Mopar lover |
Sounds like it needs a good overhaul and the proper intake manifold to carb Isolator gasket and you will be good to go....
Don't forget to change the fuel filter and check the fuel pressure..... :) |
and dont forget to use about 6 ft of fuel hose and rap it around the exhaust manifold 3-4 times. that way the insurance co will NOT pay for the car when it burns down.

Bob iam being sarcastic. i am tired of telling people to NOT to use much fuel hose. for safety reasons. as you know i ONLY except steel tubing for fuel lines. on carbed engines.

Carb trouble...
Ok just put on a phelonice plate with a brand new holly 570 street avenger and took it out and ran it pretty hard, no sign of the old probs but wow is she ripping right now!!!
Feel way more power now than I did with that old 600. cant wait to run it more. front discs next hopefully I was defintitely boiling my gas btw |

Now you just nee a gold air intake ran out to the core support and your be ready to run down the road... :)

I opened the hood louvers?? (i.e. took out the plastic inserts and replaced them with metal mesh) on the 73 hood so I am getting a sort of ram intake, is this what you mean?

on the older mopars " carb engines " chrysler used LESS than 6 inches of fuel hose under the hood. they use VERY little hose even off of the fuel tank. FOR A REASON. the newer fuel systems? i DO carry a fire extinguisher ALL THE TIME. iam old school . get over it.

thanks for the tip racerhog I think I have tons of power right now, im not sure I even want more. I think I would like to reinforce/repair the rotting torque boxes and do the front disc brakes over first, money money money...

I have had the back brakes done over (not sure what they are I think drum) and I have been told the fronts are really worn down so that's prob my next step is to repair what I have (400$ estimate), my mechanic charges 50/hour, then I want to take a financial breather on this car hhh and just drive it, I got a couple other projects id like to get rolling literally...well see thanks for the info on manual brakes id never heard of that before, :thumbsup:
