Just a game
 

I figured this one out two years ago, but I thought I'd post here and see what you guys would have done.
"My car starts and runs great. The problem is that it stalls about half way through third (when I'm beating on it). Then I lift and it comes right back. It started doing this off and on recently. It's a B/RB 4speed car"
Ok, it took me two steps to figure this one out, shoot me your best two guesses.

Fuel pressure ???

Right? So I replaced the fuel pump with a new Holley high output. The problem returned after a few weeks. So now what? Oh, and the fuel tank and pickup are only a few years old, and the filter is clean.

Vacuum is good. I was expecting more responses on this. Even if your responses aren't right, I'd still like to hear some ideas.

1. Vacuum secondary's? Leaking diaphragm? or binding linkage?

Did the new FP really fix it? Or did you not beat it appropriately :) ?

People don't really like guessing games unless they are going to win some cash. I would just add a poll to this thread and give us a couple of choices to vote on and then tell us at the end of the poll.

It was the fuel pump pushrod. Can someone now explain to me how I can get paid when I guess an answer to someones problem. This is apparently very serious work here. See, I have a job and this is just for fun for me. Sorry for wasting anyones valuable time.

What was wrong with it? Bent? If so, wouldn't it have caused an issue all the time or at least every time you hit a certain RPM range?

Some of us would like to know, was the rod worn bad on the cam that it would not build enough presure

The pushrod was worn 3/8" on just one end, it was weird. What was happening, was by half way through third the float bowls were empty because the pump arm wasn't being cycled far enough. I bought a new one from Mancini and haven't had a problem since. As I understand it this is an uncommon problem. And I wasn't paying attention when I pulled it so I don't know which end was worn.

I had this happen to me recently too. I suspect mine wore due to wear. The lobe on the cam was fine so that is how I arrived at that conclusion.

I was afraid to guess until someonelse took a stab. I thought maybe you missed the clutch and hit the emergency pedal, or maybe forgot to switch the computer to "race mode" thank goodness it wasn't the Turbo Incabulator, those things are an arm and a leg.

Joking aside, always good to get information that may help another Mopar lover, no matter how it comes along. Thanks.

The turbo incabulator film is hilarious. And I forgot to mention that the headlight fluid was low, so that might explain it too.
