MSD 6A not working
Brand new out of Box. Everything properly wired. No power to coil. Is it known to get a bad MSD ignition out of the box? Engine runs with stock Ignition. I am running new Coil and destributor.
Thanks for any suggestions |

Mixer ..... Yes -- I have heard of a MSD not working -- out-of-the-box. But can I ask you a Q .... WHY do you feel you need anything more than a standard ignition system?

I have heard the same. I am running a 5900 box just for the added benifits. I want to make sure that ALL the fuel that can be burned is getting burned.

I only borrowed it to see if my stock ignition was malfunctioning. My Hack and sputter- post will explain the problems I have been having.
It has zero power when I put it in gear. And only rev's to 2800 in park before it cuts out. With stock ignition. I have checked firing order 5 times. New cap, coil, wires, roter, and magnetic pickup in the destributer. Fuel pressure is good. Power to coil is good. All grounds good. New 360 moter with comp-cam #20-223-3. New heads. New Edelbrock 600 cfm. Edelbrock Max flow intake. 9.5:1 compression. Not sure what elts to say? Thanks guys |

No. It still sputters a little. But I can pull it up to around 4000 rpm in park. I took it for a drive. If I give it too much throttle, It cuts out. I put the timing light on the #1 CYL and noticed that the light was not picking up a signal on every stroke. It has an old destributor so I think I might need to put a new pickup and relcutor wheel I guess?

The cordoba had a 5-pin ICU "Ignition control unit" with two wire Magnetic pickup in the destributer when I originally pulled it. I guess it was a mistake using old parts. I have a new kit on the way.
