Orange or blue?
I'm getting ready to pull the motor out of my 67 Charger to clean it and paint it and I can't figure out what color it is supposed to be. It is orange now but I see some blue coming through, and I've seen them painted both. I'm sure it's a no brainer, but I can't seem to find the answer. I also was fiddling with some stuff and pulled out what seemed to be insulation in between the intake and the block. What purpose, if any, does this serve?

As far as I know 225's and 318/272's were red. 383 and 440's were blue and HP motors were orange. Someone put up a list of what engine colors were here this week. Do a search on that.
That aluminum foil and fiberglass bat is a heat insulator, to keep heat from vapor lock in the carburetor. |
