Power to Manual steering
Hi: Working on my 87 Horizon 4dr, The power steering is about shot; hose and pump leaks and badly corroded lines on the R&P unit, I am contemplating replacing the hydraulic R&P unit with a manual R&P unit and getting rid of the bad pump and lines. Would this be a fairly easy swap, or are there hidden things that I need to be aware of? Different splines, or adapters, etc?
Thanks.
John
Thanks.

The answers are at your local auto parts store. Check for differences in the parts surrounding the rack.

Thanks for the thought. I will see what I can find. I was hoping for some insight on it. The folks at our local stores don't have much knowledge in the mechanical arena. Last week, I couldn't convince them of the existence of the C clip that holds brake hoses to the body brackets even though I had one in my hand. They could not find any mention of it in parts diagrams. I also purchased loaded front calipers that came with 3 anti rattle clips, but no one can show me where they go. - there were none in place when I took the old ones apart and the only pictures that I can find are for earlier models. The manufacturer said "Go to the parts store..." Oh well
