Speedometer Clicks

I have a 1975 Plymouth Fury. My Speedometer clicks and bounces all over the place when I hit 65. I changed the cable. It also sits at 7 when not moving. Does any one know how to fix this.

i don't know whether this car uses a cable that is replaced by sliding into the housing or whether cable and housing is changed as an assembly. if it just slides in, the housing may have a kink in it. also, the cable may not be all the way in at the tranny gear and may be jamming the speedo head. the cable needs lube. does it have oil? another possibility, the speedo itself may be bad.
