tie rod measurement

Can anyone provide me with a measurement from outer tie end to outer tie rod end on a 70/74 Challenger?
Measurement should be from center point of the outer tie rod ends. Measure to the closest 1/4" or so.

Thank You!

I am not for sure why you would need this measurement unless you are trying to "straighten the steering wheel..IE: Square it up" or just needing to get it to an alignment shop. The easiest way for "ball park measurement is jack up front of car, support it with stands with cars weight on suspension (as if it were supported by the tires ), with tires only off the ground to turn. I usually take a sharpie spin the tires (turn by hand) with sharpie marking the center point of tires, both tires, then take a tape measure and measure as far up on tires as suspension frame sway bar etc will allow in the front the do the same @ the rear of the tires ....adjust the tie rods to get the measurement with-in 1/4-1/8", 1/8" would be better but that will get the toe set enough to drive it to get a proper alignment. Hope this helps, and hope I didn't miss the main point of original post......:D

The reason I need the measurement is because I am setting up a Mustang II front steer rack and pinion on a tubular k member. The track width on a stock Mustang II is 56".
An E body front track width is 59.7". I bought the longer tie rod ends and am hoping they will give me the overall width I need. I don't really want to use inner tie rod extenders. If I had the measurement, I would be able determine the overall width I need on my rack and pinion.

This sounds interesting. Would you like to share more about your rack n pinion swap with the rest of us? I saw a kit for sale for use with the factory k member for about $1300. If you are doing this on your own I may learn something to do my own swap. I'm cheap.
