Will a tranny from Fury 3 Fit a Duster?

Ok so i got my Duster 360 today and was looking for an engine til i can rebuild the 400ci Block thats in it. The guy i got the car from told me he has a 1968 Fury with a 318ci and tranny to i can get for $600 so before i get it i was wondering if the transmission will even work in the Duster. If not i will just buy a 360ci and 727 somewhere if i can find one or just find a stock tranny for it. Any tips is well needed as i know NOTHING about Mopars im mostly used to Chevys. By tips i mean anyone that has an engine and transmission for sale, know of a great combo to get the car back on the road soon. This car did have the 400ci with a 727 tranny and 8 3/4 rear end and all thats left is the short block and rear end.

For a 318/360 they can use either the 727 0r the 904. Just the converter must be balanced for the 360. The 318 is a neutral balance.
Now the 400 ONLY uses the 727 and the bell housing is different from the 318/360
If you are building the 400 Wait and find another one running to put in it..That 600 should get one running and a lot less problems and expenses to do the change

Ok ill look around for a 360 with a tranny and probly take the 400ci apart and inspect it to make sure its rebuildable then sell it or something im going to try to bing this thing to orginal factory condition except a few upgrades internally. But from what i have been reading the 68 Fury the guy has, comes with the 727 transmission but not 100% sure.

Just keep this in mind, the A-body trans is shorter than the others. not saying the others won't work, but there may be some serious fab work and a new driveshaft to make it all fit properly. I would just try to find the correct A-body trans to go with the small block. When you do go back to the 400 you will have to do the above mentioned work to make it all fit.

His question was about a Fury, and concerned an auto trans NOT a stick 3 / 4 speed

ALL automotive 904's are same length, and all automotive 727s are same length, whether A, B, or C body. The length difference you get into is in some pickups and motor homes, some of which have special tailshafts and emergency brake setups

THERE IS NO fab work to put a long tailshaft auto, either 904 or 727 into an A whcih came from a B or C. In fact the one in my Dart came out of a 77 B200 van

The only difference between the 904 and 727 in length, so between the two, you need a shorter driveshaft for the 727

IF YOU HAVE a console shifter in your A, make sure the 727 you get has the cast mounting holes on the bottom of the trans for the shifter bracket. For whatever reason, the one from the van did and the 904 bracket from my Dart bolted right up to the 727

Ok ill have to look into the mounting holes cause the Fury is the console shifter, I may end up selling the 400ci and just keep it with a 360ci w/727 in it. The 400ci has already been built from what i can tell from the pistons and all they are flat tops but then again they may have had flat tops to begin with but idk much about Mopar yet still learning. But one good thing is the duster i got does have the 8 3/4s rearend still on it so that should be good for a while, i also need to find a driveshaft to.
