1989 dodge 350 islander edition stalling problem

I am looking for some help with a problem that the mechanics just cannot solve. the problem only happens on a hot day after about an hours worth of highway driving the van just stalls even at highway speeds. if i wait for about half an hour to an hour it will start up again and run for a short while and then stall again. i have replaced the pick up in it and done plugs and wires and the previous owner had a bunch of work done to it as well. I have had the van in the shop and they have had it idle for a hour or so just to get it up to temperature and it was working just fine. i took it camping on the weekend and drove for about 2 hours without any problems , but on the way back the temperature was about 32 degrees celcius and about a hour and a half into the trip it stalled and left me stranded for about an hour. any help would be greatly appreciated as i am getting a little frustrated.

thanks Steve

360 V8 with an automatic trans? Is it throttle body injected or carb?

Have you tried another computer? I'm wondering if the heat is causing it to cut out.

Was the Hall effect pick-up replacement that was installed, a new one?? 'Cause that is the symptom of a defective unit.
