if you had a new 318 converted and you needed it for a 360 what do you thing about grinding the weight off the 360 one and welding it on the 318 converter.??

the converter only bolts on one way. so i was thinking the weight is for the motor anyways not the trans. so welding it on is pretty hard to screw up ...

I've never felt that welding weights on is a good idea. GRAMS as in fractions of grams, make a difference in engine balance.

I'd say buy a B&M or similar aftermarket flexplate which has the necessary balance built in. That way, you can use a "neutral balance" converter, which makes your selection broader, as well as being able to use that converter if you ever change to a different engine balance situation.

I have a factory 360/ 727 in mine, but when I get a stall converter, I've already got a BM flex to go in there.

I used the B&M flex plate with my 360 motor

One of my Favorite sayings is "Going a tad bit cheaper is not always better" that being said make sure you have a good nuetral balance convertor and that B&M 360 flex plate.
