360 build
Hi guys and girls,Iam new to the site,I have been given a 360 short block its been bored out 030 and o-ringed.The car it came out of ran high 12s on the odd shot of NOS,she also had cast iron heads which are long gone. The oil pan has also been deepened by the looks. The cam and lifters are still in the block also. The pistons are 030 TRW L2405 the only info I can find about them is they are forged low compression for forced induction which it never had or is it going to have.Iam wanting to give her a new lease of life and put it in my A body.Does anyone have any Ideas on these pistons and if Iam wasting my time with these low compression pistons in trying to turn this 360 into a Tyre fryer?
Any opinions or help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I havent figured out how to post pics yet.

What you have is a basic 365C.I. (That is a 0.030 overbored 360) with a 9.5.1 Compression ratio, With the rite head... Not much to write home about....
So if the block, crank, and Rods all checks out to be in good shape... You can move on from there.

Racerhog, all I have found on these pistons is low compression statements as fallows 070 dish,63cc heads= 8.28 to 1 comp being the highest down to 68cc heads=7.92 to 1.The engine builder told me to aim for 9.5 comp as our fuel is real **** its 96 octane.Iam real confused by youre statement with these being 9.5 comp thats a huge difference in what I have found about them. Can someone tell me how to post pics please?

Thats all I was pointing out. You can achive 9.0.1 - 9.5.1 if needed. But it requires some cutting....
I feel its better to change Pistons if your not going to boost the engine to use the lower compression pistons..
Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the replys, its all great stuff to hear others input,Its just what Iam after so please keep them comming.Speaking of boost have many people on the forum had that experience of boosting turbo their small block? Its getting quiet common in Australia most likely due to the fact turbos are everywhere.

Should still have a MSD box you can control the spark curve with a laptop.

A good short block will help, forged pistons etc. and the correct cam, the heads are less important than on an NA motor.
