383 build question

My 383 is my next motor build. To get a lighter piston with a stock 3.375" stroke builders use a 6.768" (440 length) rod to get a short compression height? Ross sells pistons (530gram) for the 400 w/3.375 str. and 6.768 rod w/.990 pin. Very light. I'm getting new H beam rods and pistons already. Who's done this in a 383? Am I missing something?

Yes, I enjoyed that. My 383 is similar but with
a stock iron 4V intake. Edelbrock heads and intake
are next on my parts list.
