413RB bored to 440
Hi guys
I want to know if a 413 RB block can be bored to 440 and then made a 440 Big block build or isn't just as simple like it sounds. Will this affect the block structural integrity?

You need to do some research
413 was 3.75 bore
426 was 4.25 bore
440 was 4.32 bore
So from 3.75 to 4.32 is a whopping .57 inches!! That is more than 9/16"!!! Or if you're a "metric" guy that's 14.48 mm !!!!
Many modern engines cannot safely be bored "to" 1/8 (.125) overbore without sonic checking the block.

3.75 is the stroke for a 413. with out looking it up i think 413-426-440 are .060 apart. found this 413-4,18 bore-3.75 stroke---426-4.25 bore-3.75 stroke----440-4.32 bore-3.75 stroke. but i think the 413 is 4.185. but i dont have my of my pre 1967 manuals here. years ago there was group of max wedge racers out of FL that would take a 413 and bore it to 426 use it for a while, not sure they bored it to 440 to keep using again.

yep you are right my brain IS going south. years ago my dad sold his 300 J that had a 500 in max wadge to a friend. who wanted it back to stock. dad found some cats that had a pair of 413 new in crate. so he ordered them. what came was one 413 and a 440. dad wanted to put the 440 in his 82 250 HD ram. but died the next week. and i sold the block.

I'd stick with the 413. Steel crank with a good valve relieved piston at the right compression height could get you a great engine with a good aluminum head you could make 500 HP if you wanted.
Don't forget a stock bore 426 piston will fit that block with a bore. Still lots of selection.

but if iam right does it not make since that chrysler had a reason to make the 383 piston diff than the 426 piston? and you are right one could make a swap that way. and it might work. why am i flapping my gums when i have 67 manual on the floor next to me. i see what i can find.

If you want a 440 get a 440 block or stroke your 413. the 413 is a good motor...
Where I live is not simple like just bought a 440 block, a 440 here is a exotic engine to find so I thought that I could build a 440 RB from a 413 RB because if I'm right the unique difference between the 413RB and 440RB is the bore diameter. But seems to be not simple like I thought

I would first source 20-30 thou 413 pistons and keep your options open.
As far "torque monster" sure, with the right head and modern camshaft, less top end HP and more low end torque is easily done.

i started reading in my 67 coronet manual. but did not to far i got side tracked. the the Hemi piston has a diff dome, and is forged, than the 383 piston. the 383 piston is NOT forged. and some of minor dementions are diff. and i think the Hemi wrist pin is is floating, and a diff dia. i wont say you cant use one. but i bet. what ever your need is some one has what you need , with out modding one. but making your own changes is what hot rodding is all about. i have very few things that are not moded.

with objections from the machinest .
it lasted for about a week the the block cracked down the freez plugs
what a wast of a 67 max wedg 413 ... The heads we have to this day sitting atop a 440 but that block is trash .
u can wrk that 413 its a powerfull motor just check out the NHRA stats on that baybe..

there were two 383 blocks, one with smaller pistons and long stroke, one w large 426.
