440 6 pack

i was just wondering if any of you had any 440 6 pack engine combos that made 500+ to the wheels, using factory heads. i"m trying to get some ideas for my build.

I just finished a "resto" style 440 6 pack Engine for a Customer, nothing fancy.

Other than a 274H Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam, a good rebuild on the 906 Heads W/stock Valves, and some better Rockers Arms, ARP Rod Bolts, thats it..thats all.
Dyno'd at 440HP, but with 510 Ft/lbs Torque
but,
that was NOT a surprise through the restrictive Factory HP Exhaust Manifolds and 2 1/4" Exhaust Pipes.

Let me know and I will post up the Dyno Sheet.

I have a 69 440, that's gonna be bored 60 over, and I was thinking about doing a mild stroke. I have 906 heads that I'm going to get some port work on. The car is gonna be street/strip and yes it does have to be a six pack.

You'll have a tough time getting to 600 crank HP with stock iron heads, they will be the one thing holding you back.

Agree. The stock heads can make power, with proper work, but you can buy much better aluminum heads that can make that same power out of the box; pre-porting/polishing. And since they're aluminum they weight less, and you can run a point higher compression.

Staying with stock iron heads would be cool, but I think you might be happier with a set of aluminum heads. Horsepower = Happiness :hello:

You might be able to pick up a great set of aluminum heads that will allow you to flow 600+ HP at the crank for <$1500. You can check out 440source.com for instance.

I know aluminium heads would get me better numbers out of the box, but I happen to find a good machine shop that does good work for a decent price. Im looking to get a quote to see how much it would be to get them cnc machined. I don't mind getting the extra work done on the iron heads. I'm familiar with the 440source stealth heads, I was considering them but I decided to stay with the iron heads.
