looks like maybe at one time a pushrod went through a rocker arm found a piece of the metal laying next to a valve sping also found a carter pin from the carb linkage sitting in lifter valley. I pulled engine out and apart no timing cover gasket just silicone bearing look to be wearing unevenly? Some left a frost plug in between the cooling jackets of 2 cylinder walls. Short story i just picked up a 360 from a 74 sportsman camper with 61k on it

Was the cam flat? Or was a lifter the problem?
Glad you got something to stuff in it for now...

What was all wrong with the original motor? Is there a chance you could freshen it up?

well what i thought was wrong with other motor isn't as bad as i thought has a burnt exh valve and rear manifold stud is broke off in head from previous owner.
I'm installing a new full engine gasket set/double roller timing chain/oil pump/water pump and running it lol.
