Transmission slip

So I have a 727 torque flight transmission. The car is running good but the issue I am having is as I'm driving or taking off from the stop light it seems like it does not want to shift till it gets up into a higher RPM, then all of a sudden it'll shift into overdrive and it sounds like a little clunk...or when I start off on 1st I can change to2nd and it takes a while for it to shift, the same thing when I shift into Drive from 2nd I have to really get on it some then all of a sudden it almost like it clunks and catches fine, now it was not doing that before,,,Any thoughts?

The other thing it seams like I can flore the gas pedal all the way down and it feels like iam 1/2 ways their as far as power.

You do have the T.V. hooked up adjusted properly?

O.k. Racer excuse my ignores,,, but what do you mean by T.V. ???? I am new to this and iam learning as I go....

The Transmission has a linkage tying the carb to the trans mission. Throttle Valve Pressure is what it controls... If the linkage is missing. The trans line pressure is to low and causes the clutch's inside the transmission to burn up. also when miss adjusted, it will cause ill-rattic shifter patterns.

There are was around it, but it call for replacement of the transmission valve body...

This is just the short and sweet version.... :)

Oh yea, I think you sent me a You Tube video on that and it is in place, as a matter of fact just yesterday I had to losses up the headers to put on the clip that hold the link arm on so it would not fall off, but that is a possibility i need to check that today.

raycan2 05-18-2016 05:40 PM

Darn thing has me so frustrated now, I have tried everything that I know of and it still doing the same thing, iam just to stubborn to take it to a machanic because I am determined to learn how to do or fix it.

You did check the fluid level in Neutral and at idle?

RacerHog 05-18-2016 05:52 PM

The lever does move freely rite and linkage?

raycan2 05-18-2016 08:36 PM

So I checked the fluid level...GOOD... Lever is good but a little stiff, I hopping that's it but every thing else checks out.

RacerHog 05-19-2016 03:39 PM

Well If that all hooded up and fluid is good..... Sounds like is going to need a trip to the trans shop.... Ouch...

raycan2 05-19-2016 06:14 PM

Don't say that!!!! Iam still messing with it,,,maybe I need to make a trip to your shop and drop it off...

RacerHog 05-19-2016 06:26 PM

raycan2 05-19-2016 06:32 PM

I wish I could take a drive, it's pretty far I am guessing..

RacerHog 05-19-2016 06:44 PM

My Niese lives down near Cheyenne... I could swing by.....lol

Ok.... Get it freed up.... Make sure the linkage moves freely... In the relaxed position. the slotted part of the linkage at the carb. Should be slid forward almost touching the stud. Without the spring hooked up to pull it froward.

:)

The lever for the kick down on the trans should move freely NO binding. You may have to remove the pan to check it... The valve it operates could be stuck / bent????

moparted 05-26-2016 08:03 PM

overdrive?

Yea my father law said the same thing, its hard to tell with the headers in, I can not get my hands in to check, everything is so tight..I might have to take the headers off again or losses them up.
