D100 Frame swap
I am new to the forum and i own a 1961 dodge d100 panel truck and the frame is pretty messed up and i was wondering if anyone knew what would be a good modern frame to use, i would like upgraded brakes and maybe coils and ifs because i want to lower it a little bit

That's going to be a tough one.. I would do some measuring and maybe (cough, cough) a frame from a Chevy PU could be adapted. Another option ???? some Hot Rods were built using an F body front suspension adapted/welded to the existing frame. NOT a job for the inexperienced

I know from 71 till 93 that the 4x4 frames were the same and the 2x4 frames were the same. Prior to that, I have no idea. That is going to be a tough one. Like TV said, take a lot of measurements and see what comes close.
There is a locate guy that I've seen use the 91/92-96 dodge dakota frame on a 50's dodge truck. That may work for you too. |
i was thinking about the dakota frames might work im going to go double check tonight and make some measurements... i know that im going to have to fabricate some pieces but i think it will be alot safer with a more modern frame

I would start with a Dakota frame over a chev frame both could be adapted I guess but the dokota will at least have mopar engine trans & diffs
