Dam it, can't get upper bushings out of E body
 

I have one single rusted on bushing keeping me from completing my front end rebuild.

Any ideas?

Beating it don't work.
Blue tip wrench so far has burned off the rubber and I even chiseled the outer shell of bushing, exposing only inner. Vice grip not working.

Ideas?

Take a hacksaw and pass the blade through the center, saw the inner sleeve trying not to touch the arm. This will relieve the press fit pressure and should knock out easy.

Pass it through the center?
The axis of the bolt is horizontal. I am thinking of a blade to the left and right of the frozen bushing, but not the center. Can't run a blade axially along the bushing either, of course, as there is no room.

air hammer. and some pb blaster works wonders.

I use a dremel and score a vertical channel down the inside bore.

I've heard you can weld a large washer to the bushing shell and then press it out. However dont inadvertently weld the shell to the arm.

Remove the upper control arm from the car, drill or burn out all of the rubber with a torch. Then remove the bushing sleeve as suggested depending on tools available. Don't try and hammer in the new bushing, pressing in or pulling with threaded rod and washers will not damage the new part.

If the rusted on part is the mounting bolt you may have to cut the bolt and purchase new bolt, nut and eccentric washers.

Chances are, due to age, you probably should remove the upper control arm, and rebuild it anyway.

Done it on two cars with an air hammer..as before mentioned I used 3/8" all-thread with some washers and nuts to pull two of them in at a time.
