69 roadrunner ignition key light

Hello mopar fans! I'm trying to complete the A01 light kit for my 69 RR. I have the ash tray light, heater control light and glove box light all working great. I just purchased the key ignition delay light and want to install it. I noticed it only has a yellow cable with plug on end. How hard and what else will I need to complete the install? I'm going to take a peak behind the dash to see if I can find the delay timer relay. I do know thats what I will need but not sure about other wiring to make it work. I'm hoping I will find this relay with other end of yellow wire to plug in and maybe find the battery power cable (orange) and I can just plug them in and see if it will work. If anyone has an incite please do share :) Also any help on truck and under hood lights would be great!

No personal experience here, but I recommend purchasing a factory service manual, a subscription to Mopar Action, and ordering a Year One catalog. Nice car by the way, I saw pictures on your other thread.

Thanks! I've been spending a lot of time on Yearone and Classic Industries trying to find parts. The service book was my first purchase and it has come in handy a few times already! :D

If someone that owns a 69 RR that has this option could post some pictures maybe of the wiring or how it's installed would be awesome! I got the light in yesterday and i'm going to look under dash this weekend to see if I have the relay. Thanks in advance!!!

Anyone know anything about how these are wired?

Get yourself a proper factory shop manual. The best I can do for ya is to have you download this:

http://www.abodyjoe.com/pictures/Mis...e%20manual.pdf

This is hosted by "AbodyJoe" over at "For A bodies only" and this is the factory 69 Dodge manual for Dart / Coronet / Charger.

Coronet is very similar if not THE same as your RR

Pages 8-104 --- 8-107 show the dash area, but that option is not there.

I DO find it on page 8-112 listed for 'Dart' I'm sure the wiring is the same, as Ma carried the same theme throughout

Here's a screenshot of 8-112

The "thing" is a mess because of the map light which in itself is a bunch of trickery. If I remember correctly, what is NOT shown in the diagram is that the map light switch must contact ground, IE the internal contacts ground to the switch mount.

You can see that the delay part of the circuit mainly interfaces with two existing harness wires at lower left, both part of the main under--dash harness

M2A--18Y and X1-16R, so go back up to the main dash circuit on page 8-106---8-107, and you find M2A-18Y at far bottom left of page 8-106. This wire originally goes to the right door switch. So you UNHOOK that wire from the switch, plug it into the female on page 8-112, and then plug the yellow M2F18Y from the delay harness back into the disconnected switch.

X1-16R is the original dash harness wire connected to the cig. lighter. Again, you disconnect that wire, connect it to the delay harness, and then connect the delay harness wire M3-16P back up to the lighter

I have a 69 Plymouth service manual but I think I might have a bad ground and the diagram seems to be ,as you mentioned, unclear and incomplete concerning the ignition delay light. I'm not understanding what you are saying about disconnecting and reconnecting. The harness is unmolested best I can see. Are you responding to the original post? Thanks!!

just something to think about. i found a 1984 plymouth factory service manual have the fire wall connector shown upside down. i dont think this is what you have. its just something to think about.

Not being able to see what you see is a real disadvantage, LOL I assumed you had the complete --add on-- stuff needed to add the ignition lamp. I would think the delay relay would be in that add-on harness. I was referring to a stock car, the example, the yellow connection to the door switch---assuming the car had no extra delay harness, you would have to add it in my disconnecting the door switch, connecting the yellow from the new harness in those disconnected wires.

If the "new" harness you have does not have the delay relay, sounds as if it's incomplete

Frankly, without the original destructions from whatever original dealer installed kit, this is pretty much a "figure it out yourself" deal.
