After mounting the gauges they were prewired and illuminated with a power pack. I will leave them lit constantly as they are backlit with LED's, all though, a dimmer is available. The gauges are plenty bright in darkness and may prove to be a little too well iluminated. I like the idea that all the necessary driver imformation is right in front - right in your face. I will repair the faulty original clock with a replacement quartz clock movement from http://clocksandgauges.com/gpage.html" FYI, the speedometer gauge is fully configurable regardless of rear gear/tire sizes. The range of the fuel gauge in ohms is to OE specs. This was a highly rewarding mod and I look forward to it's installation when my ride comes out of storage.
