1972 challenger rally
I'm trying to find out if the 72 challenger rally came with a 318 or only 340 engines. My understanding is that the code for a 340 car should be JS23H2------and a 318 should be G instead of H. Some say that the G is not a 318 because rallys only came with 340s. Any GURUS out there that have the real skinny on this?

The rallye Challenger in '72-'74 could be had as a "G" code 318 or "H" code 340.

I have a chance to buy a very well restored 72 challenger rally JS23G2------ with a period correct(nov 71) 340 4 barrel. Car is in super condition just the wrong engine. Original 3 speed with a 4 speed pistol grip to be installed. All original sheet metal, never wrecked, no bondo. Options are minimal, no AC-what's it worth? That's a big question. Worth 26K?? Thanks
