'73 Dart Front Torsion Bar Install, Queens NY
Hello -
Noobie to the forum.. 3 month owner of a '73 Dodge Dart with 198,000 miles on it and ticking. I returned from a business trip to find the Dart (which had been parked and unused while I was gone) listing to one side. One visit to a lift later, front/left side torsion bar had snapped. (Not really sure how it snapped while it sat idle, but that's a whole 'nother story) The guys at Pep Boys looked at me like I was nuts when I asked if they could install a new bar when I came back with one. Does anyone have a line to someone in the NY vacinity that can do the install for me? I'm somewhat inclined and not afraid of getting my hands dirty (I did a frame up restore of a '75 Honda bike), but I don't have access to a lift and I need someone who has done it before and who can take the lead. I'm in Long Island City, but can limp the car anywhere within reason. Any suggestions for a garage or a private mechanic would be a huge help. Many thanks in advance. Chris |
