A Body Windshield Wiper
I am restoring a 1973 Duster. While installing a replacement dash I noticed that one of the windshield wiper rods, below the dash, was hanging loose. It appears that some sort of attachment bushing is missing. Does anybody know where I can find a replacement? Is there an exploded view of the wiper assembly so that I can correctly identify this part?

hey man, I had the same problem last summer! They're called wiper linkage bushings, and any parts store can order them for you. Make sure you snug them on real good, because its a pain in the ass when they fall off and the dash is on! haha.

Thanks, I was hoping that the part would be available. I've gotten too far along on this project to let this type of issue stop things.

yeah. also. if it comes off when the dash is on, take the glove box liner out, and you will see it.

I just replaced that too.

make sure u replace both of the bushing while your at it

Went to NAPA and they had the bushings. I will replace both of them. the package came with two bushings. I guess this is a common problem.

I'm having the same problem, how hard is it to change them, any pointers

Not hard at all! Although, depending on how eaten up the old ones are, you might want to wiggle the linkage loose first, pull it out of the car, pop in the bushings.
Do you have the same car? On the old ones sometimes taking out the glove box helps, but climb around under the dash and you'll see it! |
wiper bushings
I have a 1974 Duster, and I don't see anyway of seeing those bushings, my drivers side wiper works, but the passenger side doesn't. It is an A/C car so thats all I see is a/c junk

A pair of channel locks make it easier to re install, make sure there is some water proof grease in the hole
