dash pad swap
Hey guys I need to either recover my dash pad in my 74 swinger or put a new pad on, I need to know if i have to pull the windshield out, and were is the best place to buy a new windshield rubber.

I can't recall if you need to pull the window to do the pad in the '74, I know the '70-'71 can be done with the window in but it's still a PITA.

dash a swap
No, you do not need to remove the windshield, but you may need to remove other stuff like glove box and instruments panel. (depends how much of a contortionist you are)

Gauge cluster comes out, heater controls out, glove box out. Basically everything on the front of the dash comes out/off. then the nuts that hold the dash pad come off and the pad comes out. Also, if you are doing the dash pad, do it right, and remove all this stuff. Paint the dash and detail the gauge cluster and install a new glove box. Take your time and do it right.

What about a dash pad cover? I am doing that on my Valiant. I agree pulling it and replacing it would be a better solution.

But how do you take the cauge cluster and stuff off with out having the dash off when I took the dash out of my dart sport the only way to get to the dash cluster was by getting behind the cluster when the Whole dash was off... ????
