i have a 66 dart with the same scenario.
there is a company called "Dougs Headers", (not doug thorley) who still make a set for your car.
they are however very expensive, around 700.00 for the set.
thats why i haven't purchased them.

no they won't. the steering gear and all of the linkage gets in the way.
Dougs Headers makes a set for the 66 dart, also Hedman Hedders makes a fenderwell set that looks really cool but you have to modify the inner fenderwells to make them work.

What about the street set made by Hedman. I have some unknown set in my 72, but I saw a 68 gts 340 with Hedmans street headers, they were snug but there wasnt any sign of clearance issues. My set is similar to these and I have knocking issues at the top of the steering just before the firewall on the number 7 tube. The Comp series has a different design that they say doesnt work with power steering and it also seems to have a ground clearance issue.
I'm also looking for a new set for when I pull my 318 and stoke it to 390. Ill let you know how well they work.

Spitfire makes headers for the early A-bodies, but they are kinda funky ( no real collector to speak of).
TTI also has headers for the early A-bodies that uses a long tube design with 3" collectors. They are really spendy, and the installation is sort of complicated ( you have to pull the steering column, torsion bars, and a few other things, and you have to modify the tranny mount ), but they offer good ground clearance, and you don`t have to cut up your fenderwells.

i have heard great things about the tti headers but they are expensive, headmans can be made to fit bit i dented mine up pretty bad getting them in, and it was only possible because i had my whole stearing system out, in my opinion headers dont tend to be worth the trouble
