Help with my HP

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a 1973 Dodge Dart, and am now officially a mopar freak! The car has a 318 block and 340 headers. Any idea as to the horsepower it has right now (considering the motor is in average condition)?

I'm also planning on rebuilding the motor, and would like around 350 HP. Any advice?

Thanks

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/...ead.php?t=8164 . Looks like 150 stock hp. I'd add 20 for the headers & 4bbl. Install some older heads and get abt 250.

Thanks for your help. Good website!

Could anyone tell me a good combination of block and headers to get half decent horsepower, without having to add any major performance parts. Please include production years as well.

Thanks for any help!

The 318 seems drasticly underpowerd (and it is by all means) but the hp is measured at the rear wheels not at the crank like the new cars. Pull the heads, have them ported and polished, put some higher compression pistons in (like 9.5 to 1 as comapred to your 8.5 to 1 stock) run a higher lift cam, maybe .460 or .470 and you may be able to coax out 350 crank HP
