3.6 Performance Upgrades
Hey guys, new to this. Bought my very first car about a month ago, 2014 dodge challenger sxt with the 3.6L pentastar. I've been wanting to add some horsepower but haven't been able to find many parts, I'm guessing because it's either a 3.6 or because it's new? Anyways, I was wanting to know if anyone knew of any good aftermarket performance parts distributor and what simple parts I can use to add some power. Thanks.

There is not a lot you can do because of the VVT and the engine is a strong performer anyway.. My advice would be to leave it alone and if you wanted more snap you should of bought the 6.4 SRT or even the RT 5.7 if something fails because you added something you will pay dearly(no warranty) and with todays computers they will know trust me all the data is stored and can be accessed by the dealer/Technician.... I am a master tech with Chrysler. . Not tooting my own horn just thought you might want to know before you do anything to void your warranty...Bill

Grim -
I have the same engine a 2011 Chally, and yes, unless you plan on racing it, it's plenty snappy.
Three things you can do, two might help. Since I bought mine used, not worrying about the warranty.
1. Open up the exhaust. A Magnaflow or Flowmaster cat-back system should help a little. There are other manufacturers as well. Not sure what the exhaust system looks like on the 2014, but my 2011 doesn't seem standard for the 3.6. The manual calls for a y into a single and back to a dual. Mine is a full dual with an X pipe.
2. Re-program the computer. Haven't tried, but have a felling the previous owner did something, the thing is snappier than I expected.
3. Cold air intake. This is the one that might not help. The theory makes sense, but I've seen a few dyno tests, that showed no improvement.

Kinda what I figured, not much you can do with it. I did however find a cat-back system by flowmaster, which is a Y into a single and back to a dual. I also found a k&n air filter and an 80mm ported throttle body, which I've heard good reviews on. These should be okay, add a little horsepower but shouldn't have to worry about the warranty. Thanks.

I don't get it why did you buy a daily driver with a 3.6L???? Now you are talking Nitrous, Exhaust systems, Cold air intakes, if you take the price of the upgrades you could of bought an RT with the 5.7L and would still have more power then the upgrades will give... And if you do the math on the loan your payment would of been lest then $50 a month and you would of had a car you would enjoy more and the trade in value would be a lot more... Some times people just crack me up...
