1971 Block ?????? 413 ????
Oh man you got me on this one...... ????

Didn't they use the 413 in truck and industrial applications until about 71 or 72?

RacerHog 09-06-2015 05:38 PM

1959-1965 was the car/ truck as most of us know it for the 413....

Iowan is rite... Industrial used them up into the mid 70's from what I remember. Last one I worked on was in a 1968 Dodge D300... But I think Winnebago/Dump Trucks used them into the 70's....

Soooooo. I guess it could be one of them....

Welcome to the site... :)

So no casting number's means industrial

RacerHog 09-06-2015 07:52 PM

Yes.....Very very few numbers to I.D. it.....

Might.... Just might be a number somewhere along the pan rail....

So what you have is a

1971 industrial 413 Cold weather block... Steel Crank if I remember rite?
Funny looking Balancer.... Huge water pump... Odd looking heads.... Sodium Valves... Run all day at like 4000 PRMs...

Hope that helps...

P.S. You got my e-mail message rite? just checking... :)

413 block

i bought a 1965 300 L. the last year for that engine in a car. sold it to my dad. in the late 70s he went to rebuild the engine. but didnt want the stock 10:1 CR. he found out the early 70 413 in truck / motorhomes had 7.5 CR. the pistons bolted right in, the same weight. so no re-balance needed. still had lots of power. but was NOT cheap.

Thanks for the input. Was really curious why i could not find casting numbers on block. So far i am picking up on because it may be industrial. And that's fine. Just odd no numbers. The car it came out of a 1964 300 4dht we had for a number of year. Lots of trips. Nice ride. And now we want to do the engine compartment. We don't drive the car much so we want to fix it up for shows and fun. I am not doing the engine work my self. Having it done. Have a factory inline dual 4 barrel manifold would like to use have air cleaners. Block is 60 over have 906 heads to use. A kit has been bought. Have no specs on it was told the cam is a bit bigger not much. Would like this to work with this intake i have. Any input or suggestions could be helpful. Can always make changes. Thanks

It could've been a warranty block also, or just a fluke?
