I can't find the thread I started a couple months ago with the previous pictures but here are the newest pictures from today, finally painted, now a couple days of wet sanding and then he has to get the bumpers back on and finish the interior and I should have the car back in a couple weeks.

Nice to see somebody restoring a "low value" car. Everybody seems to be focused on musclecars ...

Are you returning the B-pillar and window frames back to chrome? Or are you leaving the paint on them?

Leaveing the paint on them I guess, not really sure what you mean--they are going to be the same as they were when it was Maroon.Kind of makes me think of the Green Hornets car now that I see the color and the size of it.
I know I will never get my money back out of it, have about twice as much invested as its worth but hell its only money and I'm too old to worry about it anymore and sure as hell don't worry about leaveing it for my kids to blow, I will piss it away first.

Go ahead and spend their inheritance..

Great choice of colour. Had a 69 Fargo painted a very similar colour. What are the next steps?

Having the interior all done over now, seats are all done, just waiting for the paint to be finished wetsanding and then the carpet installed new stuff in the windows, forgot what he called it, something thing like whisker something--goes in where the windows go up and down, new rubber moldings for the doors and trunk, the bumpers are waiting to go on, had him paint them green too instead of having them rechromed, see how I like that.New headliner, New front speakers, new stereo, leaveing the Am in but it doesn't work but maybe someone in the future will want to get it fixed.
Only thing left with the engine is something still isn't right with the carburaetur but had it rebuilt a few months ago and it has a lifetime warranty and they said as soon as I can drive it again to just bring it in and they will fix it even if it means a new carb. Can't get the idle right and it stalls at times.

nice job! great color! Much more unique.
don't worry about the money, the ride will be the payoff
I've seen ads for Dodge Darts asking $25k
I'm thinking "are you crazy?" It's an econobox.
The big Chryslers always had a nicer ride and less rattles.
sorry dart fans

Dodge truck renamed for north of the border. I saw one when I was in Hamilton ON
I recall they were more for commercial use.

just took a look at the engine compartment. it reminded of the heater control valve. like a 65-66 chrysler body. it is inside the cab. they have tend to leak and rust throu the floor and rust the torsion bar frame holder. and the right side goes down with a bang. the fix is to relocate the heater control valve. a universal one. or if my brain remembers right a control valve from a 1964 Buick wildcat might work...???

TVLynn 12-12-2014 10:15 PM

My dad had a 64 wildcat unusual in that it was a 4dr consul shift with bucket seats, was fun to drive

Here are some more pictures, only thing that I haven't been able to find so far is the chrome for the front fenderwells, well I found some in Ohio at Murray Parks, NOS but it was like $220.00 each and thats a little more than I wanted to spend on a piece of chrome, I have already dumped so much more in that car than I ever expected its ridiculous.

Here are a couple more pictures, bumpers on.

I wasn't sure how it was going to look with the bumpers painted but I like it and everyone that has seen it in person so far says it looks really good. Finally got the door rubbers ordered yestwerday, the first stuff I ordered wasn't the right stuff, should have known, it was only $70.00, found the NOS for the car and it was 210.00 was the same price at 3 places I found it, pretty expensive for 4 pieces of rubber..

RacerHog 02-02-2015 08:06 AM

As long as it fits rite and last a long time.... It's money well spent....

Well the car is in the garage right now--Still have two problems but waiting for the turn signal switch to come now--after everything else when got everything else finihed, bumpers on and all found out it is bad and so no brake lights and signals are messed up--of course the first one I got was the wrong one, it had to be the more expensive one.
The carb is still screwed up too but that I will take back to the Carb shop in Largo, they have a lifetime Guarantee but can't do that until I have lights, its one thing to drive it a half mile without lites but I won't take the chance going 7 or 8--tickets cost too much.
Anyways here is some more pics now.

RacerHog 03-14-2015 04:55 PM

Looks Great.... Now you just got the small thing to do... :)
