1980 dodge w150 head

I have a 1980 dodge w150 with the la 5.9 360 in it i took off my heads and noticed theres a hole in them shaped like an upside down u with a rectangle in the middle of it. It was completely clogged full of junk. I cant seem to figure out where it goes or what its supposed to do. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Tad

That would be the exhaust crossover, used for heating the base of the carb.

Okay my intake manifold doesnt have a spot for it. Should it? Or should it just be open?

Some gasket kits come with "block off " plates for the heat passages, or you can make your own from some thin tin(soup can).

It sent hot air to the EGR system / engine warm up.. Always got clogged with carbon buildup Fine to leave it open or you can block it closed
