1986 Dodge Power Ram 250 Fuel issue
 

Hey everyone!! I am new to this forum. I have had a lot of trouble finding information for my truck on the web in general. I am hoping you can help me out.

I have a 1986 Dodge Ram 250 with a 318 V8. I got this truck after it was parked for a few years, so, needless to say, it has a lot of issues. I use it to plow snow in the winter, so it gets parked mostly in the summer months.

I am having a problem getting fuel to the engine. I have found several issues starting at the fuel filter, and all the way back to the tank. I have replaced fuel lines up to the tank. I have been able to confirm that I have good lines to the pump. I replaced the cam driven pump, but I still can not get fuel up to the carb. Is there something in particular that I need to know about putting in a new pump??? I tried to make sure the leaver was on the bottom of the cam the best I can. Is it possible for some kind of air lock?? Is there a way to test the pump?? I have the line off the carb and when I crank the engine over, there is no fuel coming.

Also, if anyone has links to downloadable manuals to diagrams of anything on this truck, please let me know.

.Sounds strange. Have you tried a hose from the pump into a gas can to check the pump? If that doesn't work? Another Remote possibility The cam bolt is loose & the pump cam is not pushing on the pump. You could also try a cheap electric pump for testing

LIke TVLynn said, pull the hose from the carb and dump it into a bucket while someone is turning it over. If you get gas, then the problem is in the carb. If you don't, then the issue is with the pump or further back. Also, since the truck has been sitting, you'll want to make sure that your fuel filters are clean. There should be one before and after the pump.
