1986 Dodge Ram50

Hope im not going to get razzed... Can I call this a Dodge or not?

Looks like ill be inheriting a 1986 Dodge Ram 50 2.6ci 2wd automatic w/91k miles on it from Dad who is on a loosing battle w/mesothelioma. Im going to honor him by keeping that thing running forever.
Its really a Mitsubishi hiding under an American name.
Whats the possiblity of some V-8 swaps?
Whats this truck worth?

Small block with a 904 fit well I've heard. Some motor mount and oil pan to crossmember jiggling but the trans fits the truck hook ups from the firewall back. Search it out I think you'll find lots of ideas.

i know a guy that put a 318, auto trans in a 50. he said the trick is the body configuration. centered around the trans tunnel. but dont know the configuration. he said there was only one style that works that easy. he found an oil pan, rear cross-member, and diff mounts. that made it fit with little butchering. the O.E.M. oil pan had the sump up front, with a E.O.M. oil tube to match. but i dont know any part no#. sounds like time to find a good parts man.

Man o Man you are right on the money my man! That is one uncomfortable riding truck and to boot the bench seat sinks deep in the middle so bad that the driver and passenger usually lean on each other just to get around...lol

Once upon a time several years ago, I put a Ford 2300 four from a Pinto into one of these. Actually done two of these. Built one for my youngest daughter for a first vehicle. Had to put a rear end from a Mazda under it to get the rpm down so it would get better mileage. Both trucks worked very well.
