cam for an 83 ramcharger

i am strongly considering putting a cam in my 318, im not looking for crazy top end horsepower or a crazy idle, just want bottom end/mid range torque

how would this work? Mopar Performance P4452782AE, Mopar Performance ''Purple Shaft'' Camshaft Kits | Mopar Performance

I have had good results from Lunati. Their cam and lifter kits are reasonable. Check their Voodoo series for something on the lower less radical side. Of course headers will really help the old Ram breath. But with any cam change, you may have to change springs. Pain in the butt. Mancini racing has a tool which works for heads on spring changing. It still sucks changing springs - so check carefully the cam you want.

Comp Cams will have a good package for you as well - cam and lifters for about $150.00 - deal!

I use Comp Cams break in lube, run the cam for 20 minutes at about 3000 rpm and shut it down for the night. The next day you are god to go. And remember it is a flat tappet cam which needs zinc in the oil. I wiped a cam a couple years ago using a good synthetic oil because I believe it had no or very little zinc.

Just dont go too big on the cam if your not make any other changes >>> Just my 2 cents

We used this in our 318 truck.

and I have used that exact Comp Cam as well in a 360 with good results in a 1979 D 150. Idles nicely, lots of midrange.
