lower a 1989 dodge ram

Hi all,

I am trying to slightly lower the rear of my 1989 Dodge ram

I wanted to just put on longer leaf spring shackles but nobody
seems to make them that I can find.

Does anybody have any ideas?

I know I can get lowered leaf springs but I was trying to do it without
spending that much money just in case.

Thanks for all your help guys.

2wd I take it? How much are you looking to lower it? Is the shackle upright or facing down? If they are upright, I wouldn't go for a longer shackle as that will help it to flex more. Maybe install a 1" lowering/lifting block.

check an autozone. they have lifting and lowering shackles there. what about flipping the axle on top of the spring?

i put lift shackle's for a Chevy on mine and it lowered it there like $15 $20 bucks at autozone but if you want to go all the way here is all you need. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/...c=&Search=true all and check out my truck its really low

I'm actually going through the same thing with my '89. The rear sits a good 3 inches higher than the front. I noticed that the rear spring mounts face upward, so I'm thinking putting a longer lift shackle, will actually lower it, without losing any payload capacity.
