1964 727 shift cable

I have a 1964 Fury with a 727 TF console shift. Removed shifter cable today to install replacement. Should the housing be a smooth bore where the cable enter's? Cable is of course threaded for adjustment stop plate. Thanks.

Hey i have a 63 fury with a 727 tf as well I was wondering where you found a replacement cable?
