1969 B-Body Tranny Conversion 833 to 727
I know it sounds crazy, but does anyone have any info on a conversion like this?
For everyone that wants to tell me how crazy I am, this is the reason:
I have 2 bad discs and the clutch makes it unbearable to drive. I have way too much money and time into my car to just sell it and hunt down an Auto version of my Bird.
So, if anyone has any info on this, the help would be much appreciative.

This should be a virtual bolt-in. The driveshaft, rear mount, everything should bolt right up. The biggest concern is the kickdown linkage, unless you are going with an all-manual valve body, and you can use stuff like the Lokar cable linkage for that.(Look it up at Summit, others)

You should be able to figure a way to block off the 4 speed floor opening, and mount something like a Cheetah or B&M shifter over the top of it. You MIGHT even figure a way to use the original 4 speed floor opening to string the shifter cable down through.
This should be an easy swap, and easily reversible, if you ever sell the car.
(I'm in the same boat as you. My younger days I always preferred stick cars, but now my legs/ osteo arthritis make it impossible to handle a big heavy clutch and 4 speed. I'm now firmly committed to a TF, and frankly, I'm beginning to like it)

Thanks all. Great info.
I would never cut the floor. I was actually thinking about changing out the steering column for a column shift and just cover the 4-spd hole because I have a bench seat. Then, I could easily remove it and change it back over if I ever sold it.
