1969 Road Runner; is this a good buy?
 

Hello all,

This is my first post on these forums. My dad has been into Mopars since he turned 16 and got his first 1969 Road Runner. He is currently working on a nice 72 Challenger project.

He ran into someone who has a nice car for sale. The asking price is $10K. I want to see if this is a good deal or not. I am interested in purchasing a mopar, doing a little work and either keeping to drive or reselling for profit. Most likely to keep and drive.. :)

Here are the specs and pictures. Sorry in advance for the crappy pictures, my scanner broke, so I had to use my camera to take pictures of pictures...

1969 Original Road Runner
All numbers matching
Engine runs fine 90K ish original miles
Straight body, no replacement panels, no bondo
No rust (in the picture the fade spots look like rust, but there is absolutely no rust at all anywhere on the car, I am in NM, it is dry here).
440 non six pack
Original 18 Spline 4 speed Hemi transmission with a Dana 60 rear
It doesnt have the original carb or air filter, which can be replaced easily
It needs a new vinyl top, paint and some interior work done
Needs original wheels for that year/model, as you can see in the pics they arent original.
Clean title, no crashes
The suspension has been reworked both the front and the back.

I seem to be having a REALLY hard time finding prices on these cars as it varies so much.

Check the VIN.... to start with, if it's a 440 non-six barrel in it, it's NOT numbers matching. (The only factory available 440 in 69 was the M-code 6 Barrel) The Dana rear is probably non-original as well, as they were usually installed behind 440 or Hemi 4-speeds. The 5th character in the VIN will be as follows:

H- stock 383 4 barrel. ($10K is about 2-3 K too high)
M- 440 6-barrel (grab it for $10K)
J- 426 Hemi (probably already gone for $10K)
