1971 Plymouth Satellite first car and restoring in near future

My dad has had his 71 plymouth satellite since he was 18 in 1983, it was the first car he got when he came into the United States and let me say it was a good choice. We are doing a resto-mod over the summer and possibly into the end of this year. He is now giving it to me as my first car. It has a 318 and we are doing a mild stock rebuild. I want to put a mild cam in it but i have no idea about the lift/duration or anything of that nature. Please inform me on what cam would be good in my case. Please feel free to give me other engine rebuild tips or any other suggestions you like. Thanks.

Welcome! I dont know the wrench experience level of you guys, so I dont want to bury you in details. Sounds like you want to do the body first, then find out where you want to go with the engine. Here's a nice toy to play "what if" with! http://www.compcams.com/Camquest/ It allows you to plug in various combinations and see the effects they will have! Its not 100%, but pretty close. Enjoy!
