1976 413 good or bad

Hi,I'm really new to Mopars so this may be a dumb question.I just bought a 1972 Charger,it needs alot of work as it's missing the engine, tranny, most of the wiring, gas tank, brake calipers, interior and just lots of odd and end stuff. So I found a 1973 satellite,I think most of the odd and end stuff I can strip from the Satellite.Problem is I can't afford the 440 I had my eye on and still get the Satellite. But a guy has a 413 and tranny for sale he says are from a '76 motorhome.I could probably barely squeeze the 413 in the budget but I just need to know if it's worth it to have a 413.What kind of power could one put out compared to the 440?Are performance parts even avaliable for the 413?Thanks,any help would really be appreciated.

My 2 cents, save up for the 440.

I think I'll definetly go 440.I probably wouldn't ever be totally satisfied if I didn't.I'm going to look at the parts car tonight or in the morning. Will there be any problems about a 1972 Charger and 1973 Satellite suspension parts interchanging.I only want the Satellite if I can use most of it.Basically,I need the entire front suspension, did they change much on the cars from '72 to '73?

the basic parts are interchangeable but in my opinion the satellite is a better looking carand as for your engine if all youplan on doing is driving the car no one will know if it is a 413 or 440, the internals of the 413 are the only deliverance

413

The 413 from a motor home may have the gear driven cam which uses a weird distributor setup as the cam turns in reverse of a chain drive timing set.
You will be happier with the 440 SAVE your$$$

I've possibly found a 440,I heard a guy down the road had one from a motorhome with tranny for $500.

Cool, RV trannys are HD units. I might want the UPPER rear quarters. mine are rust free down low, but the upper parts were damaged in the rollover. There are alot of compound curves on them and would be hard to get straight. No hurry though, is tight!
