318 satellite intake manifold/carb question

im swapping my stock 318 intake and carb for a weiand intake/holley 750 double pumper set up. Tried doing some research but cant relly find anything that will help. First off no mods have been done to the motor by me, but thinking that the carb may be a bit too big for the set-up? I already installed it but it wont crank up, plus fuel is spitting out the bottom of the front bowl when you press the gas pedal? Any help appreciated...

Your carb size and style is wrong for your application for many reasons.
I would suggest a Holley 600 vacum secondary style carb and a maximum of 650
CFM for any style carb.

Ok, well I also have a 440 stroked to 528 goin in daily driver 74 satellite, would the carb be better suited for that? Thanks for the input

short answer yes
but remember, from the factory, 440's got 800 and later on 850's with the thermoquad

Im guessing I would basically have to rebuild the motor to get this carb to run right on it? Or can I do a cam or head swap, or we talking pistons...I really just want the thing to run around town in, not tryin to race the world, just want to know what I need to get the carb to work, the set up was basically free and the stock carb blew out on me. Thanks

That small engine size would be a highly modified 7000 rpm 4 speed drag race only
combiation to use that carb.
If your not familiar with the small ones a great book is, How to Hot Rod Small-Block
Mopar Engines by Larry Shepard.
This is a good read to: http://www.allpar.com/mopar/4bbl.html
