383 carb/intake question

383 carb/intake question
69 383 RR 4 spd stock
I need a new carb and was thinking Holley 650 (4150) DP with their dual plane aluminum intake.
.I am thinking going 3.54:1 rear end. Don't want a street/drag racer but am interested in idle to speed performance when I feel like it.
Questions:
Is the Edelbrock Performer carb and Performer RPM intake a better combo.
If I change rear end would a 750cfm be best with 4 spd.
Thanks posted in engines forum- any other carb or intake suggestions welcome.

Both intakes will work well.
If you are going to throw some gear in it and you may toss some more power at it later I would push for the RPM intake and a Holley 750 with vacuum secondaries for the street. Purchase the quick change spring kit and cover when you get her.
A good set of headers added to your combo will really wake her up!
Its a "vanilla vs chocolate" debate over which manufacturer / product is better but they are both an excellent product.
I believe we have a Holley CS rep on here from time to time.

if you just want a street car with occasional full throttle run a holly vacuum sec. or a edel 750 avs either will be fine.
though the edel will be easier to tune check out the post "TUNING MY AVS"
i have the edel 650 avs but i changed up my rear gear to a 3.91 now im going to rebuild my 650 double pumper and run it occasionally the avs doesn't open fast enough for the gear so i will have the D-P for that smash it to the floor run's it doesn't take me long to swap carbs so i will use the AVS for street and the D-P for racing....

I have the Peformer intake on my 73 Duster. Originally, I had the Performer 750 carb but I had all kinds of problems with it. Carb got dirt in it and no amount of cleaning or new parts solved it. I contacted Edelbrock and their tech told me to go with the Thunder series carb. It was more in 'synch' with the Performer intake. I looked at their products online and their website said the same thing. I think it's kind of misleading when a guy goes to match the carb and intake. You would think the Performer carb and Performer intake would be the best match, but their website and tech guy says different. You don't see that difference pointed out on other sites. I haven't gotten a Thunder series carb yet. I borrowed a buddies 650 Performer and so far is seems to work great.
