Has any one use www.source.com located in california? they advertize in Mopar muscle. I am interested in the big block aluminum cylinder heads for 899.00$$.Edelbrock sells them for around 1,500.00 $$ What is the difference? gordy.

Are you refering to the "Stealth" heads? I am getting a pair as well. All the homework Ive done has lead me to believe, based on previous customers response, claims and dyno numbers, that the heads are a steal at the advertised price.

As for HP numbers…currently my 440 is running 8.2 to 1 compression with head flow at 220 cfm producing an est. 350-400hp. The motor, in stock form, is around 325hp stock with aircon/ exhaust manifolds/carter600/ crap ignition. I drove the car untuned..shes got it underneath the hood for sure…With the 440 source heads flowing at 290cfm it will be at 9 to1 with a hot street camshaft and probably be about 450hp..maybe 500. With better pistons and bigger cam , it’ll be almost hitting 500-550. After that it’ll need more displacement(stroker), an even bigger camshaft, and ported heads (330fcfm).

Got a set of the 440 source heads on my 71, and I'm really satisfied with them. Just know you use a different spark plug, it's a shorter 5/8ths plug, and make sure you use the washers to bolt them on.

What are the advantages and disadvantages?Not being real familiar with this set up, I think the cam would have to be replaced.This would be for a street set up(71 dodge charger).Here in pa. always looking for a winter project when the snow flys. Amen, I forgot to say that. I've got a can of the copper sitting here and it's just gotten to be such a given to me that I passed it over.

They may say that you have to use the aluminum roller rockers or adjustable rockers, as I did with my Edelbrock heads, they have some of the most inexpensive adjustable rockers I could find.

just wanted to pass on some info i experienced then heard about to back up what happened to me. helped a guy build a440. got real hot on start up, had to shut it down low or no coolant flo. put a hi flow alum. pump and t-stat in tried it again, got so hot it shut down. recored the rad. no t-stat. 50-50 mix on anti freeze, tried it again. got hot and spun 3 cam bearings, and 2 rod brg. got a different block built it again, put a stock cast hsg. on it ran great. it had a 440 source alum. water pmp. hsg. on it when it kept getting hot. a buddy told me a year later,a thread on the 70 charger site, a guy wsa having bad over heating on a new 440, same deal. took the 440 source hsg off, compared it to a cast 1 found out the inlet openings were half the size of the cast 1. just words of exp. be carefull what you purchase from them.
